LASIK eye surgery

What Is LASIK?

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a popular laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea to correct common vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The goal of LASIK is to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses—and in many cases, it does exactly that.

Thinking about life without glasses or contacts? LASIK eye surgery could be a great option for you. At your LASIK consultation, we’ll determine if you’re a good candidate for the procedure and help you understand everything you need to know before making your decision.

A LASIK consultation is the first step in determining whether laser vision correction is right for you. During the consultation, we’ll conduct a series of detailed eye tests that go beyond a standard vision exam. This includes:
A.  Measuring your corneal thickness and shape using advanced imaging technology.
B.  Checking for dry eye, pupil size, and other factors that can affect surgical outcomes.
C.  Evaluating your overall eye health and reviewing your vision history.

We’ll also take time to discuss your lifestyle, vision goals, and expectations after surgery. If you qualify as a good candidate, we’ll explain your options and next steps, including a referral to a trusted LASIK surgeon if the procedure isn’t performed in our office.

Ideal LASIK candidates are over 18 years old, have had stable vision for at least a year, and are in good general and eye health. LASIK isn’t right for everyone—people with certain eye conditions, very thin corneas, or chronic dry eyes may not be suitable candidates. That’s why a thorough consultation is essential to determine if the procedure is safe and appropriate for your eyes.

If LASIK isn’t the best option for you, don’t worry—there are alternatives. We may recommend other types of vision correction procedures, such as PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) or implantable contact lenses (ICLs), depending on your specific needs.

If you’re considering LASIK, the first step is scheduling a consultation with us. We’ll guide you through the process, answer all your questions, and provide expert advice based on your individual vision and lifestyle. Clear, glasses-free vision may be closer than you think.
